J-Funk
We had the honour in catching up with Justin AKA, J-Funk at the Independent Music Show.  J-Funk is what I would call an all round Soul/Jazz man at times merging into the sound of Gospel.  Six years ago, leaving his native home in Australia to make that move to the bright lights of London he has not looked back since putting his feet on UK soil, working up and down the Country, increasing his fan base wherever he performs.  This is a guy who has the air of professionalism about him which shines out when performing on stage.  Timing is the key and as a Band, they are on time, in time every time!    Coming from a musical family, J-Funk started playing the piano at the age of three, reaching his teens, he went on to achieve a Bachelor of Music, majoring in Jazz Vocals.  Last year he signed up with USA Indie label, Ismael Records , which has helped him dip his toe into another network of the music industry.  His Album, entitled "Breakthru" which he wrote and produced, is now released and can be brought through CD Baby ; the album is just what you would expect from J-Funk, and more!  To highlight the point one of the tracks (Breakthru) has been selected to be featured on the “Soul Unsigned Volume 2 ” album which also shows the respect for his work in the music industry.  There’s no end to J-Funk’s journey of music, as he engulfs all that’s Jazzy as he continues to spread the sound of J-Funk to all who want to hear it!

Jonas
We had the pleasure to catch up with Jonas at the Independent Music Show performing with anotherr talented and very busy Artist Kevin Mark Trail.  At a young age Jonas was inspired by Stevie Wonder’s music.  Years later he formed a band called the Jones and on their second gig they were spotted by Stevie Wonders manager (Keith Harris) and Peter Smith who produced music for the likes of Randy Crawford and Sting.  Eventual they were signed to Sony BMG for a world wide deal; sadly the deal only lasted for one album, when the deal ended Jonas decided to become an Independent solo Artist.  Jonas now has his own record label and a distribution deal to sell his music, he has never been more satisfied being able to create his own pathway as an independent Artist and feels it’s the way forward for a vast majority of Artists, enjoying what you are doing and making a living from it..  Throughout his time he has toured around the world and  2008 saw no change, Jonas clock up some mileage touring over in the USA, Africa, Europe and the UK; Now in 2009 he continues in the same mode, touring with the likes of Omar and producing a new Album "Waitt" which will be released this summer, one of the tracks entitled “Two time love as one” (co-wrote with the late great Lynden David Hall - BBC News ) has everything you would expect from the man Jonas, giving you a rich Soulful sound that is ideal for the summer while lounging in you house, driving your car or kicking back with your headphones on and keeping it personal.  Jonas is a Soulful accomplished artist; bring to you a mix of Jazz, a twist of Soul, a drop of blues and blended with Nu-Jazz, producing a sound that has the Jonas stamp on it.

One Day Elliott

If you come to Kent, ask anyone about "One Day Elliott" (ODE) , you would be advised to go and listen to their music and create your own opinion!  Once you've heard their music, you will be impelled to go and hear this Band perform live, this is where they are most comfortable and at their best.  In 2008 ODE toured up and down the UK and the USA, produced an album “Rule Number One” that sold over 10,000 CDs and continues to get great reviews from the local and national media.

This year, having seen ODE perform live and directing one of their music videos (“Never be content with average,” taken from their new Album “A Vital Something ”) you can only say these guys are destined for bigger and brighter things!  Their new album proves they are not your average Rock/Punk band; they are like a ticking time bomb waiting to explode onto the international stage.

Adele Sande
Adele Sande is the girl next door with an abundance of musical talent that main stream music is defiantly missing out on!  Adele started singing at the age of 7 and with the support of her family got her first piano at the age of 13.  Within her family circle she was always know as "the musical talent Artist" which now spreads throughout the UK.  Born in Sunderland and briefly living in Sambia, Adele now resided in Glassgow as she continues to study medicine in her final year.  Adele first came to light at the age of 16 as a finalist on the Trevor Nelson's "Urban Lowdown", a Uk competition searching for the most talented soul Artists, which gave her greater notoriety and respect in the soul music industry.  At the age of 21, she is Now signed to Soul Jawn records, based up in Glasgow, a small independent record label that predominately focuses in Soul, Hip-hop and Jazz music, .  Adele has made her mark as a creative and talented singer song writer,  producing an emotional and uplifting EP ("Have You Heard"?).  One of the tracks on her EP stands out as a well crafted love song "Baby's Eyes".  In Adele's younger years she always said she would not write a love song but then a boyfriend came along which inspired her to write "Baby's Eyes".  All I can say, is thank heavens for young love!  The "Reebok song" is another track on the Ep that has such a fantastic groove to it and smooth vocals that would put soul into any soulless person.  You can see Alede's exclusive interview and performance on her profile page (www.icoros.com/adelesande) where she performed live at the "Independent Music Show".  Join now (for free) so you will have access to see her full performance and ensure you purchase her Ep as it's most definitely one you should have in your Cd collection.

David Mensah
David Mensah is no new comer when it comes to performing on stage, he was originally in the band “Dark Roses” who had a UK underground hit song “I Like The Girls”, as the front man for the band this was the beginning of his carer, when the band split amicably David later decided to go solo, he spend a couple of years singing vocals on house track, he then reverted back to doing the music he loves.  The track Food of Love is an example of David’s creative writing and delivering of the song puts no doubt in my mind that this is a musician in his own writes.  The Album “The Food of Love” is one you should have in your Soul collection.  Check out David's profile page (www.icoros.com/davidmensah) and see his interview and performance, at live at the Independent Music

Based in Holland, Blind Archary Club have been causing waves, especially with one of their tracks, from their album, "The Union" the track "Off The Deep End" received raved reviews and reached No 4 in the National Airplay Charts. This is a well turned out intelligent band, playing creative melodies with a pop sensibility.
