The album took on an unusual journey, while writing the lyrics to Dynamite; he also used the title (Dynamite) to write a graphic novel; Kevin says “as he was writing a line in the chorus (“we can’t go on living like Dynamite”), the words jumped out of the page like a metaphor and found myself referencing a character”. Being a big fan of comics and graphic novels, Kevin sourced out an illustrator and a co-writer to work with and managed to get a publishing deal for his novel, which only highlights his skills as a wordsmith and an imagination that some of us would die for!
The Album Dynamite has an array of tracks that takes folk music to another level; Kevin has introduced some classical elements on the album, as well as featuring a number of people, like Olly Knights from “Turin Brakes” and Tom Mae, who both put their vocals to the track “Bedlam”.
Tracks from the album have been acknowledged and played on a number of main stream radio stations, including the Dermot O’Leary’s radio 2 show, Bob Harris’s radio 2 show, Janice Long on radio 2 and Dave Rowntree (Blurs drummer) on Xfm, which has excited Kevin as he’s pleased the way the album has gained interest organically! Another track on the album, “Overcast House Street” is such a mellow deep thinking song; Kevin said” he got the idea of writing these lyrics when he observed a few problems happening on his street! The track itself has classical sounding elements to it, with the introduction of the Clarinet (played by Adam Morris), giving that extra layer as the sound form the instrument falls in-sink with the lyrics of the song. .With Kevin’s captivating vocals on each track, he’s masterminded and crafted an album that Folking rocks!
